The keyboard shortcuts for copying and pasting (CTRL + C) and cutting and pasting (CTRL + V) are not working on my computer. What can I do?
The how do i fix ctrl+c and ctrl v not working is a question that has been asked many times before. There are multiple ways to fix this issue, but the most common is to use the Keyboard Shortcuts tab in System Preferences.
My keyboard shortcuts aren’t functioning anymore!
The most common shortcuts are CTRL + C and CTRL + V, however if these stop working, other shortcuts will stop working as well. Is it still possible to start Run with Windows + R?
A faulty keyboard driver is often the source of these issues. In the lesson below, I’ll show you how to get your keyboard functionality back to normal.
Let’s get my keyboard shortcuts working again.
In a nutshell, we’ll delete the keyboard driver from the device management, and it should function again after a PC restart.
This is the extended version.
Go to Start and type Device Manager into the search box. Search for Keyboards in the Device Manager.
Find the perfect keyboard for you; for me, the Razer Diamondblack is the best option. Select Uninstall Device from the context menu when you right-click the driver.
The keyboard shortcuts aren’t functioning.
Keyboard operations like CTRL + C and V should work again after restarting your computer.
How is it that my keyboard functions without a keyboard driver?
We just uninstalled the driver, and you’re complaining that your keyboard isn’t functioning. Thankfully, this isn’t the case.
If you have a separate keyboard, it will install a driver when you plug it onto your computer via USB. When you uninstall it and restart your computer, Windows detects that there is no keyboard driver installed and installs its own. The default keys will function this way.
Do you have any unique keyboard keys? Then I’d search for the particular driver on the vendor’s website so you can use these keys again. It’s also conceivable that the driver will be reinstalled when you reconnect the USB to the computer.
